"Uphill"

  1. Times like this are what gives moms their immeasurable value. Anybody can do it when it's easy; moms do it when it's tough. We went through it. As long as you're all together, you against the world, doing your honest best by and for each other, you come out the other end all right, and stronger than you ever imagined you could be, because you find ways to make it work.

Dad is the anchor that holds you fast against storm and current and wave. Your younger kids are the engines, always pumping their vast stores of energy into the system. Your older kids are running lights, foghorn, bells, all those things that keep your ship from becoming lost in what seems like an endless night. You, mom, are the pilot, and when your little ship is tossed, endangered, and seems about to go on the rocks, put your hands on the wheel, and steer!

I wrote Bonnie a long poem about this that hung framed over the dining room table, and saw us through some dark times. They do pass. Here's what my religion says about that:

"Tidal windstorm splits trees and rock, yet cannot last a day. So much less, man's work."

All our efforts are temporary. They borrow from preexisting forces, ride the current of natural events, and disappear according to the dictates of the situation. It is best to realize the transitory nature of things and work with it. Understanding the world's ephemeral nature can be the biggest advantage of all.

Sorry to jam up your site with this huge post, but we all love you here, and you seem to need some encouragement. As we said in the Navy, Hold Fast; no storm lasts forever.

Feel free to drop in anytime! You are always welcome :)

    Thank you for your encouragement,

  3. Hi Jenny! In times like this, Jesus is at the ready. He see's everything. In His Word, he says that one day our troubles will be as waters that have passed away. He also said, that "...this too shall pass." He wasn't kidding. In my life, I got ill when I was 18. I couldn't remember my past before that age. I eventually got better and got a good job. Then my Dad left us and left me with a sick Mother who couldn't work, a brother on drugs, and an 8 year old sister who was confused about where her daddy was. I worked, paid my bills, bought food for the family, wrote to her creditors so they finally left her alone. I eventually broke down again and had to be hospitalized. I was determined to get well, and so I did. I met Jack at 28 and we were married on my 29th birthday. By the next November we had twin boys, followed by a little girl 17 months later. I held down a full time job and we had to work together to take care of our home life and our kids. It was rough. At 43 I had a heart attack, and off and on over the years I've been on medication for a serious disease. But guess what..... With Jack's help and the love of all my family, I am well today because I've worked on my faith over the years, and Jesus did the impossible for me. Now, my troubles are as the waters that have passed away. I know how hard life can be. But we are all here together, and sometimes if you just need to chat with someone, I am available, and so is Jesus. He loves you, He died to save you and He will never leave you. He is the Prince of Peace, the bright morning star, and the Lily of the Valley. Let His sweet peace fill your mind and heart and know there are people everywhere praying for victories for people who are overloaded with care. You are no exception. There is a site called GODVINE, and they have a prayer wall when you can leave prayer requests and everyone who want's to can pray for your circumstances. Would you like me to ask them to pray for you and your family? I don't even have to mention your name, Jesus knows who you are. If you'd like that, know that it is a legitimate and safe site and they are on the up and up. In the meantime, just know in your heart that your Heavenly Father is capable to meet all your needs. He said, "Come boldly to the throne of Grace and make your requests known to God." He will answer. I can guarantee that.

    I am praying for you,
    Bonnie

  4. Hi Mrs. Bonnie,

Thank you so very much for taking the time to share your heroic story. You have overcome many obstacles many of which most people would have quit, but that is what makes you a beacon of light so that you can use your stories to inspire others. You and Jack are a power-team, out to try and make the world a better place. I just hope that one day I can do the same thing for someone else.
Thank you both for all of your thoughts and kind words and for taking the time to reach out to me.Oh and I know that things will work themselves out, they always do. And prayers, I can never get enough of them! :)

  5. Good Morning Jenny... Hope you rested well, and I wanted to just let you know that 12 people have prayed for you and your family so far. They will continue to keep you in their prayers, as will I. Let me know if you have any specific needs. The Lord is always at hand. He never tires of hearing about our needs. He is such a good and loving God and I am so happy for the results you will be receiving. Keep your faith. It will carry you through turbulent waters.

    In Christ, Bonnie
